The Hunt for the Priestess
Former king of Ostrheinsburg. Slain three years ago by the Resistance.
Algol was born in the town of Perseus. At age 18, he joined Argus’ army. Wishing to make something of himself but lacking confidence in his skills, he formed a deal with the demons of the Abyss. They empowered his sword, which he named Soul Edge, with its own demonic spirit, vastly increasing its strength, and the strength of its wielder. Algol quickly climbed the ranks in the army, and was made the top general by age 27.
By the age of 44, Algol had become among the most well known and respected warriors in the history of Ostrheinsburg. This earned the jealousy of his son, Arcturus. One day, Arcturus stole Soul Edge, hoping to become a better warrior and maybe earn the same admiration as his father. Unfortunately, Arcturus’ willpower wasn’t enough to resist the evil spirit withing Soul Edge, and the sword corrupted and took over the young man’s mind. Before Arcturus could do any serious damage, Algol stepped up to fight him. Against all odds, he defeated the evil sword, but at the cost of his son’s life.
After Arcturus’ death, Algol was a complete wreck. His sadness quickly turned to anger, but who was he angry at? He was mad at himself, at his son, at Soul Edge, at Ostrheinsburg, but he finally concluded that Argus was to blame. If Argus hadn’t recruited Algol into the army, none of this would’ve happened. Of course, it was the sword influencing his decision, as it wanted chaos and destruction while Argus promoted law and order.
Algol used his military command and his popularity to stage a coup. He convinced the citizens of the Argus province that the silver dragon was corrupt, and that Algol would make life better after overthrowing him. The two forces met, and though Argus put up a fight, Algol came out victorious thanks to Soul Edge. He became the new leader of the province, but it didn’t stop there. He then took over the long-abandoned Ostrheinsburg Castle, from which he launched his campaign to take over the country.
With the power of Soul Edge and no major threats in the way, Algol quickly became the undisputed king of Ostrheinsburg. Yet still, he was unsatisfied. The death of his son and the subtle influence of Soul Edge had drove Algol mad, and he decided that the only way to satisfy him was to destroy Ostrheinsburg. When rumors of his ambition got out, some citizens of Ostrheinsburg formed a resistance to take down Algol and save the world.
Three years ago, Algol was defeated by Iannes, Nadaar Kylana, and Thorek Starbreaker.
